The Thranhardt Student Resource Center is used for quiet study and research. Biomedical engineering (BME) graduate students and research assistants who conduct research work at NUPOC use the books, computers, carrels and software in the Resource Center.
The Resource Center was reorganized in 2011 and holds the NUPOC special collection of frequently used professional journals, seminal texts and resources about anatomy, surgery, and prosthetics and orthotics. The Resource Center also holds 42 of the master’s theses and 23 of the doctoral dissertations submitted by BME students who conducted their graduate work at NUPOC.
The Resource Center was a generous gift of Ted and Loretta Thranhardt in 1998. At its formal dedication in June 2000, an enduring brass plaque recognized their gift. The inscription further honors H.E. (Ted) Thranhardt, CPO, for his dedicated life of service to humanity, his distinguished career in prosthetics and orthotics, his life-long contributions to health care, and for his benevolence and continued commitment to education.
Special collections are housed in the Thranhardt Student Resource Center at NUPOC.
